I have been drawing and creating since I can remember. I may have been born with a silver crayon in my mouth, but you’d have to ask my mother. She’s the one in the picture. She is the original Goldilocks. I got my beautiful curly locks from her. Many of the photographs that I use in my collages are images of my ancestors, or ones I have taken of my own family and friends.
I played the role of Goldilocks in my kindergarden class play. The teacher called my mother to say that if Goldilocks didn’t learn her lines, someone else would have to play her part. I did learn my lines, but that was the end of my acting career. I decided to stick with art.
When it came time to choose a major, it was suggested that I go into Graphic Design. I said “What’s Graphic Design?” and that’s when I realized I could actually turn my passion into a career. I have a B.S. in Graphic Design and Advertising from the University of Delaware. I have had my own boutique design studio specializing in package design for nationally and internationally recognized companies for over twenty five years.
I have always designed cards for family and friends and was encouraged to start a Greeting Card Line of my own. I incorporate vintage imagery and ephemera with old family photographs, and use quotes from a diverse group of visionaries from Kierkegaard to Dr. Seuss. I am excited to have launched Goldilocks Designs greeting cards and hope that you enjoy these cards as much as I enjoy designing them.
I hope to be doing line extensions soon and you will be seeing my favorite greeting cards as wall art, calendars, stationery, magnets, paperweights, and more.
